Kyle Youndt - Owner
In April 2013, Kyle Youndt started K&K Youndt Excavating, LLC with just a mini excavator, skid loader, and single axle dump truck. He swore that he would never hire any employees as he was happy just working by himself. After 2 years, Kyle realized the high demand for his work and he hired his first employee, Carl Rutt. With the talent and knowledge of Carl and the drive and confidence of Kyle the business took off rapidly. He now employees 20 employees including himself and his wife Kristen.
Prior to Kyle starting his own business, he was a pipe crew foreman and safety manager at Martin Excavating. Here he developed leadership skills along with estimating and construction knowledge.
Kyle prides himself on providing a fun family atmosphere for people to work in. He truly feels that all of his employees are like family to him and Kristen.
Kyle and Kristen also have 2 sons, Kolton (14 years old) and Kayden (12 years old). Their boys can often be found at the shop cleaning machines, helping with chores around the shop, practicing running machines, and riding along in the dump trucks.
Kristen Youndt - Office Manager
Kristen met Kyle when she was attending Millersville University. In 2006, she graduated from Millersville with a BSE in Mathematics. Kristen was a high school math teacher for 11 years at Donegal High School. During her time there she also earned her ME in Mathematics. For the first four years of Kyle being in business, she would teach all day, grade papers after the boys would go to bed, and then she and Kyle would sit down and do book work together. In January of 2017, Kyle and Kristen decided that if they were going to continue to grow their business, that Kristen was going to need to put teaching on hold and work for the business full time. This was a hard decision for Kristen because she loved teaching and she loved her students. However, she now looks back and says that it was the best decision she ever made. She now gets to not only work from home but she also gets to spend more time with her boys helping them with their activities inside and outside of school.
Kristen is known at the company as "Big K" and "Momma K." She, like Kyle, thinks of the employees as her family. She is responsible for handling all of the payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other miscellaneous day to day tasks that need to be taken care of. Mathematics is still a huge part of her life but in a very different format.
